Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Take the opportunity to make a difference supporting students with complex medical needs. A full-time Registered Nurse (RN) is needed to provide 1:1 care for a transition-aged student in a school setting near Grayslake, IL. This rewarding contract position runs through late May 2027 and offers the chance to put your specialized skills to work in an educational environment. As the dedicated nurse for this assignment, you'll work closely with a 20-year-old student who utilizes a wheelchair, has a tracheostomy, and a G-tube. Your care extends beyond the classroom: you'll accompany the student on the school bus from Zion to Laremont and back each day, providing close supervision, medical support, and compassionate assistance throughout the school day and commute.
Qualifications:
Active RN license in Illinois Clinical experience with tracheostomy and G-tube care required Experience with wheelchair-bound students preferred Strong assessment and decision-making skills for special education environments Comfortable providing 1:1 care and collaborating with educational team members PEL license NOT required for this role Reliable and able to commit to the school calendar through 5/27/2027
Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care and monitoring during the school day and bus rides Administer medications and necessary treatments, including trach and G-tube care Support the student's physical and medical needs while promoting independence Communicate clearly with school staff, healthcare providers, and the student's family Maintain accurate documentation in line with school policies This full-time contract role carries a consistent schedule of 35 hours per week and the chance to build meaningful, lasting connections.
