As a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse, you provide direct, evidence-based care to patients with mental and behavioral health needs on an inpatient unit. You assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care, monitor patient status, administer medications and treatments, and use verbal de-escalation and safety interventions when needed. You collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, document accurately in the EHR, support a culture of safety, and may float to other units within Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation. Responsibilities Provide age-appropriate behavioral health nursing care using the full nursing process across the continuum of care. Monitor patient status, adjust care plans, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to influence outcomes. Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely according to protocols and document in the EHR. Maintain a safe environment, perform de-escalation and physical safety interventions such as restraints when necessary. Participate in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members, using appropriate delegation to licensed and unlicensed staff. Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain required licensure and certifications. Float to other units or facilities within the service area as needed to meet patient care needs.
