Shift:
12-Hour Day Shift, 36 hrs/week
Setting:
231-bed teaching hospital, non-trauma-designated, 24-bed ED averaging 115 patients/day
Job Summary:
We're seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN for a 13-week travel contract at a busy, non-trauma teaching hospital in the Chicago south suburbs. This ED sees a full-acuity mix — from neonates to geriatrics — with volume, variety, and a supportive care team to back you up.
What You'll See:
Minor trauma (MVAs), sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health presentations, respiratory distress, cardiac/chest pain, and neuro/AMS cases. Travelers are not assigned to triage.
Requirements:
3+ years of recent ED experience (required) 1+ year of travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers welcome with 3+ years ED experience Active BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, EKG acquisition, and basic drip/med administration knowledge
EPIC EMR
experience preferred
Unit Support:
RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5 (5th patient is low-acuity) ER Techs at a 1:10-12 ratio, dedicated Charge RN, RRT, phlebotomy for hard sticks, and on-site hospitalists
Schedule Details:
Weekend rotation: every other weekend (rarely back-to-back) No on-call requirement Holiday commitment: 2 of 3 summer holidays; 1 from each winter holiday pairing RTO approvable up to 7 days Schedules built in 6-week blocks, released 1-2 weeks in advance (no self-scheduling, block scheduling not available)
