Job Description

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years ICU RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Mount Vernon, IL, offers a unique blend of Midwest hospitality, charming historical districts, and access to the scenic beauty of Southern Illinois. For traveling nurses, an assignment here provides the perfect opportunity to enhance your ICU expertise while exploring new surroundings—think hiking in local parks, discovering hidden gems in friendly neighborhoods, and sampling regional cuisine during your downtime. Professionally, this 13-week critical care contract allows you to work in a busy ICU environment with a licensed 7-bed unit at a 2:1 patient ratio. You'll be exposed to various patient cases and benefit from working alongside and learning from experienced leaders and diverse colleagues. With the potential to float to Med-Surg units or serve as a House Supervisor, you'll expand your skillset and elevate your resume. The structured orientation process ensures you're set up for success. Night shifts (7p-7a) provide flexibility, and you'll enjoy every other weekend and holiday off to pursue personal adventures.
Schedule/Hours:
12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) Guaranteed 36 hours per week (except during orientation/holidays) Every other weekend and holiday
Desired Qualifications:
Active IL RN license, AHA
BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
(must be attached upon submittal) At least 2 years recent ICU/Critical Care experience Familiarity with EPIC charting Adaptable, resilient, and comfortable managing change Social and collaborative—ready to support and lead as needed
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver patient-centered care in the ICU Float to Med-Surg or rarely to ER (with provided orientation) Assume House Supervisor duties as a resource person if required Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and report to supervisors/directors as needed Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to a positive patient experience
