RN INTENSIVE CARE UNIT.
Shift:
12-hours Nights Shift details: 7.00 PM to 7.30 AM 36 hours/week. (3
  • 12) 13-week assignment Monitor and assess critically ill patients' vital signs, physiological parameters, and overall condition using advanced assessment techniques.
Administer medications, including IV infusions and specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy when appropriate, ensuring precise dosage and adherence to protocols. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient information accurately and efficiently. Manage airway support with ventilator management and perform aseptic techniques during invasive procedures like suturing or catheterization. Respond promptly to emergency situations, including trauma cases at Level I or Level II trauma centers, providing life-saving interventions as needed. Collaborate with physicians on diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory testing, imaging (e.g., CT scans), and invasive procedures like cardiac catheterization or spinal taps. Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, post-acute care options including hospice or palliative medicine when applicable, and discharge planning. Maintain strict infection control standards and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive medical records and documentation. Qualifications Valid nursing license with current registration in the relevant jurisdiction; additional certification in critical care nursing (CCRN) preferred. Extensive ICU experience in acute care settings, including Level I or Level II trauma centers, PICU, or emergency medicine units. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for comprehensive medical documentation. Demonstrated expertise in advanced clinical skills including airway management, IV insertion, medication administration, and aseptic technique. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to critical care medicine, and ICD-10 coding for accurate documentation. Experience working with complex patient populations such as those requiring dialysis, long-term ventilator support, or managing infectious disease cases. Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and provide compassionate patient-centered care. Additional experience in areas such as cardiac catheterization, trauma medicine, neurocritical care (e.g., spinal taps), or working with individuals with disabilities is advantageous.
