Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Experience the rewards of making a meaningful impact as a Registered Nurse supporting a dedicated transition student on a 1:1 basis. This contract position offers the chance to engage in school nursing within a dynamic educational environment located near Palatine, IL. You'll work full-time, providing direct care and support to a 20-year-old student with specialized medical needs, including tracheostomy and G-tube management, and also assist with daily transportation.
Key Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required Previous experience in school nursing or with pediatric/transition-age populations beneficial Skilled in tracheostomy and G-tube care Comfortable with wheelchair transfers and mobility support Demonstrated ability to respond to emergency medical situations with composure Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with educators, therapists, and families No PEL (Professional Educator License) required for this role
Role Responsibilities:
Provide continuous 1:1 nursing care for a student throughout the school day and during daily bus transportation Monitor and manage the student's trach and G-tube, ensuring safety and comfort at all times Work collaboratively with school staff to support the student's academic and social engagement Document daily care, interventions, and any incidents as required by nursing and school protocols Serve as a compassionate, trusted presence for the student and as a key liaison for families and staff This opportunity allows you to make a lasting difference while enjoying a consistent weekday schedule with paid contract stability through May 2027.
