Travel RN Med Surg. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Medical Surgical Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care across various medical-surgical units, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes. Your role will involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, utilizing advanced EMR/EHR systems, and applying evidence-based practices to meet the complex needs of our diverse patient population.

RN MEDSURG.
Shift:
12-hours Nights Shift details: 6.30 PM to 7.00 AM 36 hours/week. (3
  • 12) 13-week assignment Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic conditions across medical-surgical units, including trauma, infectious disease, geriatrics, and post-acute care settings.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine appropriate care plans. Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques and medication safety protocols. Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation of medical records, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform specialized procedures including IV insertion, suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and wound care. Monitor patients' responses to treatments such as ventilator management, dialysis support, telemetry monitoring, and acute pain management strategies. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in diagnostic evaluation, discharge planning, case management, and triage procedures. Maintain infection control standards through proper specimen collection/processing and adherence to CDC guidelines. Support patients with complex needs such as those requiring hospice & palliative medicine or behavioral health interventions; work with individuals with disabilities or memory care requirements. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including NCQA standards for quality assurance and ICD coding for accurate medical documentation. Qualifications Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice; BSN preferred. Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing within hospital settings; ICU or trauma center experience highly desirable. Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is a plus. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to diverse clinical scenarios. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in geriatrics including memory care or dementia care is advantageous. Competency in performing sterile procedures such as phlebotomy, venipuncture, ostomy care, and sterile processing techniques. Critical care experience including ventilator management or Level I/II trauma center exposure preferred. Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments like emergency medicine or urgent care settings. Knowledge of infection control practices and HIPAA compliance is essential for maintaining patient confidentiality and safety standards.
