School Nurse Indian Creek School District
CUSD 425
is a small, rural community within DeKalb County. The school district serves students from preschool through 12th grade, and enjoys high student engagement and family support. This position will work primarily at Indian Creek Middle School and Indian Creek High School, but may be required at the Indian Creek Elementary School as needed.
Salary and Benefits:
180 days per school year; 7 hour 15 minute work days plus a half an hour unpaid, non-duty lunch; $30.00 per hour; health insurance options and IMRF benefits.
Job Purpose:
To provide compassionate healthcare services to students and staff. The school nurse supports student wellness by managing chronic and immediate health needs, promoting a safe and healthy environment, screening vision and hearing of students, and assessing impact of student medical condition on the educational setting as part of an IEP/504 Plan evaluation. The school nurse must communicate effectively with staff, students, and families while maintaining accurate health logs. The school nurse also collects and reports required information to the ISBE, complying with school district and state board policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage chronic and immediate health needs Promote a safe and healthy environment Screen vision and hearing of students Assess impact of student medical condition on the educational setting as part of an IEP/504 Plan evaluation Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families Maintain accurate health logs Collect and report required information to the ISBE Collaborate with clinics/hospitals to assist with developing Medical Service Plans Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations Comply with school district, local health department, state, and federal policies and mandates
Qualifications:
Education:
Must be a licensed registered nurse in Illinois and have, or be able to obtain, a school nurse endorsement as outlined by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Licensing:
Professional Educator License (PEL) highly preferred.
Skills:
Ability to prioritize and implement treatment to health concerns in the school setting. Possess strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to collaborate with diverse groups, including students, parents/guardians, teachers, and clinics/hospitals.
Knowledge:
