Job Summary:

Provides direct patient care, effectively utilizing the nursing process to ensure optimal nursing care and patient outcomes. Works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team led by the Emergency Department Physician to meet the individualized need of the patient and family. Will practice within the parameters of the Illinois Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act and Community Hospital of Staunton's policies and procedures. Practices autonomously and in accordance with professional nursing standards. Job Responsibilities 1. Effectively utilizes the nursing process to ensure optimal nursing care and patient outcomes. 2. Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient manner to newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. 3. Complete focused and ongoing assessments and documentation. 4. Completed pain assessment—ongoing and after intervention. 5. Supports patient's rights and responsibilities, including respect for cultural and religious diversity. 6. Assesses patient and family learning needs and provides ongoing education and evaluation. Documents readiness to learn, teaching, barriers and outcomes. 7. Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital policies and procedures. 8. Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional nursing role, which includes integration of research and evidence-based practice. Expected to participate on committees, projects, as a preceptor and as charge when requested. 9. Provides leadership and autonomy in the professional practice setting and the profession. 10. Utilizes chain of command. 11. Maintains calm manner during abrupt changes in acuity and/or unit activity. 12. Recognizes own limitations and seeks assistance when necessary. 13. Is flexible with scheduling when necessary. 14. Delegates responsibilities to appropriate health care team members and monitors their activity and work performance. 15. Provides patients with appropriate instructions for discharge care and documents accordingly ensuring patients/family understanding. 16. Participates in call backs. Education Requirements -

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Certification / Licensure -

Certification/Licensure:

Illinois licensed or eligible CPR required

ACLS, PALS

within 6 months TNCC must be maintained to receive RN, Specialty Rate of Pay.
