A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

6pm-6:30am Summary/Objective Utilizes the nursing process to provide care to patients of all age groups (infancy through geriatrics), and with all types & degrees of severity of illness or injury. Practices in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, and hospital & department policies, procedures & standards. Participates in performance improvement efforts. Maintains a clean, well organized department in a constant state of readiness with adequate supplies, equipment checks & housekeeping tasks. Maintains competence through required in-services & other continuing education. Requires on call, weekend & holiday rotation and the flexibility to work all shifts when needed. Required Education and Experience Must have current hospital experience (within 5 years), or be a new nursing graduate (within 2 years). Must be able to think clearly during emergencies & be able to function well in extremely stressful situations. Prefer at least 1 year of experience in hospital clinical nursing. Licenses/certifications State of Illinois RN license that s active and in good standing. CPR certification upon hire. ACLS within 90 days of hire. PALS within 90 days of hire.
