Job Description

RN Fellow Job, Various 8 & 12 hour Shifts, Med Surg 4 North RN Fellows are offered tuition assistance for their last year of nursing school. Powers Health is hiring a RN fellow for 4 North to work various shifts at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. The goal of the Community Hospital Nurse Fellow program is to assist the Nursing student with the development of clinical skills. The 4 North Unit is a 24 hour medical/surgical unit located on the fourth floor of the hospital. Patients over the age of 12 years may be admitted to this unit; however the average age is 65. Most common types of patients admitted to 4 North include patients with respiratory conditions, fever, dehydration, renal failure, electrolyte imbalance, gastrointestinal conditions, post CVA, wound infection, orthopedic cases and general surgical cases.
RN Fellow Roles and Responsibilities:
Learn the art and science of Nursing within the framework of The Community Hospital Department of Nursing philosophy, goals, and standards of care. Performs various designated patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of the patient in accordance with Hospital Policy and Nursing Service Standards. Assists patients with ADLs, ambulation, mobility, positioning, turning and lifting while maintaining all Safety Patient Care Practices. Assists patients with transfers and discharges. Assists patients with nutritional needs ie passing and collecting food trays, feeding patients, providing fresh water every shift, assist with maintenance of special diets and between meal nourishment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing in good standing. Must have successfully completed at least one semester of clinical experience which included basic nursing fundamentals in a clinical setting. Current CPR.
