Physician Practice Nurse - GSPN Oncology Physician Services

JOB DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including symptom evaluation and toxicity monitoring.
Provide triage services (in-person and via phone) and respond to urgent patient needs.
Monitor labs, imaging results, and treatment response; escalate abnormalities appropriately.
Care Coordination
Facilitate referrals (radiation, surgery, specialty consults, palliative care).
Ensure timely scheduling of treatments, diagnostics, and follow-up visits.
Patient Education & Advocacy
Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, side effects, and symptom management.
Provide guidance on medication adherence, nutrition, and lifestyle considerations.
Offer emotional support and connect patients with resources (social work, financial counseling, support groups).
Promote survivorship planning and care transition when appropriate.
Clinical Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Ensure compliance with oncology standards (e.g., ONS guidelines, chemotherapy safety protocols).
Support quality initiatives, audits, and regulatory compliance (e.g., accreditation requirements).
Quality & Safety
Adhere to infection control, hazardous drug handling, and safety protocols.
Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts.
Report adverse events, medication errors, and near misses per policy.

Education:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Experience:
Registered Nurse license from the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
