Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Trauma and Acute Care Services Job Family Nursing Work Shift Variable (United States of America) Summary Assess, plan and provide care to trauma patients throughout the health system. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Identify trauma patient admissions daily, completes data collection sheets and maintains patient log Initiate and complete Trauma Registry information, including demographics, injury information, complications and other defined data points Assess accuracy of data through validation studies as outlined by the State of North Carolina Develop reports characterizing trauma statistics and quality assurance as requested Maintains Trauma Registry documents and confidentiality of data Respond to Trauma Activations during normal business hours and mentor, teach, advise and provide direct care as necessary Identify opportunities for improvement in the care of trauma patients for review by the TPM and TMD Assume patient care assignments as requested by the Service Line Director of the Emergency Department Assess patients throughout the hospital to identify practice deviances and opportunities for improvement Assess patients throughout the hospital regarding progression of care, disposition planning and barriers to care or disposition Serve as a resource/facilitator for issues involving trauma care including ancillary departments, other clinical service lines or support services Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training :
Associate's degree in nursing required Current Registered Nurse licensure in
North Carolina Work Experience :
2 years medical/surgical nursing required 1 year emergency or critical care preferred 1 year chart review experiences for QI, UR or coding preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
Knowledge of growth and development and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care for the following patient categories: infant (0-12months), toddler (13-30 months), preschooler (31 months-5 years), school age (6-12 years), adolescent (13-18 years), young adulthood (19-30 years), middle adulthood (31-65 years) and older adulthood (>65 years) Familiarity with medical terminology Ability to work independently Excellent organizational skills Basic computer skills Familiarity with ICD-10-CM and AIS codes preferred Knowledgeable of the physiological, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the patients typically served
Physical Requirements :
