The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients according to established policies and procedures. The RN will demonstrate competency and professionalism in providing overall patient care and supervisory responsibilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Delegating responsibilities within the appropriate scope of practice to Licensed Practical Nurse and assistive personnel within the nursing department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Treats patients, visitors, co-workers, and others in a courteous, helpful, and respectful manner. Keeps all verbal, written, or electronic information about patients, co-workers, or other medical center business confidential. Performs job consistent with Edwards County Medical Center's quality goal of meeting or exceeding the needs and expectations of those we serve. Arrange for patients ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services. Effectively balances the technical demands of the job with meeting the needs of the individual person served. Demonstrates a sense of community through a willingness to share talents, ideas, and time for special projects beyond the scope of the regular work routine. Performs other related duties as assigned. Offers helpful suggestions for organizational and departmental operations and seeks new and more efficient ways to handle routine activities. Avoids conflicts of interest and/or appearance of conflicts. Reports any/all wrongful, illegal, or questionable acts witnessed within the scope of services and operations of Edwards County Medical Center. Monitor patients' emotional stability, their expressed interest in their progress and prepare for continuing care upon discharge.

Annually demonstrates competency in Standard Precautions, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards, Handling of Hazardous Materials and Waste and Department Safety plan, Compliance and HIPPA Ensures safe work habits, compliance with safety rules and regulations and adheres to safety policies and procedures. Schedule shifts monthly to include required weekend and holiday rotation. Maintain patients' records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patients' medical treatment. Assist Providers with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care both on the Acute Care Unit and in the Emergency Room. Ensure adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment. Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards.

Education and Experience:

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Current RN license in good standing in the state of Kansas BLS, ACLS, PALS, certifications within 30 days of hire TNCC certification within 120 days of hire

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally; will involve some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling, pushing and pulling with frequent standing and walking; requires manual dexterity with ability to perceive size, shape, temperature or texture; auditory and visual acuity required with attention to verbal abilities and color discrimination.
