1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift travel contract requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and cross-training to Med/Surg and ER. Details Work in the Labor and Delivery unit with floating to Med/Surg and ER as needed Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM Every other weekend required When floating to Med/Surg, typically assigned Skilled Swing Bed or stable Observation/Acute patients requiring basic nursing care such as vitals, assessments, IV management, and toileting When floating to the 5-bed ER, assigned low acuity patients such as minor infections, UTIs, or lacerations, and may assist as a helping hand during trauma or critical cases ER includes two trauma bays, two treatment rooms, and one triage/outpatient room Each shift staffed with four nurses, two with OB/ER/Med-Surg skill sets and two with ER/Med-Surg skill sets, one designated as charge nurse Central nurses station shared across departments for charting and team coordination Block scheduling allowed Requirements Active KS or compact RN license required at time of submission BLS, FHM, and NRP certifications required Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required Charge experience preferred Two professional references required Additional Information Provide direct patient care in L&D and support Med/Surg and ER units as needed during floating assignments Charge nurse role includes making patient assignments and supporting staff as needed Orientation includes education for Med/Surg and ER areas Nurses rotate ER patient assignments and rarely manage more than one ER patient at a time First-time travelers are not accepted for this position Local candidates are accepted All RTO must be submitted at time of consideration, with only one holiday RTO request allowed
