MDS Coordinator Job Duties:

MDS Coordinators oversee and facilitate the completion of resident assessment instrument in accordance with current Federal and State Regulations. Throughout the assessment and while planning care, they ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations. MDS Coordinators oversee the assessment process, setting the assessment schedules and assuring that assessments are done in an accurate and timely manner. The MDS Coordinator transmits assessments weekly to CMS. They review the results to make any needed corrections and ensure all assessments are transmitted timely. MDS Coordinators coordinate the care plan as according to regulatory requirements. MDS Coordinators create the assessment schedule for all residents. They also complete and deliver denial notices. The MDS Coordinator must be an experienced nurse preferably with extensive knowledge in MDS. The MDS Coordinator leads or participates in daily PPS meetings, weekly Medicare meetings, weekly care conference meetings and monthly triple check meetings to assure federal billing requirements are met. Required skills : State Licensed Nurse, Demonstrating basic computer skills Showing proficiency in MDS 3.0 Demonstrating knowledge of state and federal regulations Excellent communication skills Possess critical thinking skills Detail oriented Preferred skills: Clinical Long-Term Care experience Registered Nurse MDS 3.0 certification 1 year MDS Coordinator experience in long term care setting
