Job Overview UofL Health is offering a NEW $5/hr Specialty Pay for PCU/MedSurg RNs at both Jewish & UofL Hospitals. We are seeking dedicated and skilled Registered Nurses (RN) to join our high acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) teams at our downtown hospitals - Jewish Hospital and UofL Hospital. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, excellent patient assessment skills, and a passion for providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic team focused on delivering comprehensive inpatient care across diverse patient populations. New graduate RNs are welcomed!

Qualifications Education:

Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is (required) All new hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) are required to start an approved BSN program within one (1) year of hire and complete an approved BSN program within three (3) years of hire (required for UofL Hospital location only) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (preferred)

Experience:

All new RN graduates will participate in the Nurse Residency program and must successfully complete all activities (required) One year of acute care RN experience (preferred)

Licensure:

Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required)

Certification:

Responsibilities Provide direct patient care by performing thorough assessments, monitoring vital signs, and evaluating physiological status using current nursing practices. Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions and injections. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner for documentation of patient care activities and medical records management. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans that meet patients' acute and chronic health needs. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to maintain aseptic technique and prevent healthcare-associated infections. Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medication administration, discharge instructions, and health coaching strategies. Respond promptly to emergency situations, including cardiac or respiratory distress, utilizing advanced airway management and critical care skills. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and adhere to all safety standards to promote a secure environment for patients and staff. Skills Strong knowledge of pharmacology related to acute pain management, sedation protocols, and medication administration. Skilled in performing physical examinations, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Familiarity with specialized care areas such as ICU, telemetry units, post-acute care settings including hospice & palliative medicine or memory care units. Ability to work effectively in emergency room settings or urgent care environments requiring triage expertise. Excellent communication skills combined with physiology knowledge to deliver comprehensive patient assessments across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with disabilities.
