Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

More about our team The Medical Surgical Unit provides medical oversight for patients with chronic or acute illness, and patients recovering from illness or surgical procedures. Our 36-bed unit is consistently busy. We admit, transfer, and discharge up to 600 patients a month. How you'll contribute This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments. Assesses the patient's condition and nursing care needs Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of patients Develops individual nursing care plans Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed Evaluates patient care outcomes Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees Administers medications, treatments and therapies.
