Job Description

Registered Nurse needed Full Time Days 7AM - 7PM at our Lutcher Inpatient location. About the
Role:
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient hospital setting, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care across various departments. Your primary objective will be to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will collaborate closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust individualized care plans. This role demands vigilance in monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, and providing education to patients and their families about health management. Ultimately, your work will contribute significantly to the hospitals mission of providing compassionate, evidence-based care to diverse patient populations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana. Graduate from an accredited nursing program (associate or bachelor's degree in nursing) with 1 year of providing nursing care to the mentally ill OR receive regular documented supervision/consultation from Master' prepared psychiatric nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Demonstrated clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting.

Strong understanding of Psychiatric nursing principles, patient care standards, and medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

Advanced certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI). Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately.

Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.

Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to changes in condition.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update patient care plans.

Educate patients and their families on disease management, post-discharge care, and health promotion.

Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Provide emotional support and advocacy for patients during their hospital stay.

Participate in continuous professional development and quality improvement initiatives.

The required skills enable the RN to perform thorough patient assessments, administer treatments safely, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare teams. Proficiency in clinical judgment and critical thinking is essential for responding to dynamic patient conditions and making timely decisions.
