The Facility Nurse, under the supervision of a licensed physician, shall be responsible for ensuring that necessary medical care is provided to all residents. The Facility Nurse is administratively responsible to the Program Director.

felt safety, connection and self-regulation in the administration of medical services; TBRI and other Trauma-based interventions shall be used to teach appropriate alternatives; To evaluate child's physical health upon admit. Examine for bruises, injuries, or present physical ailments. To obtain as accurate an account of past medical history on child upon admit. Scheduling of all medical appointments, including dental and optical, along with assisting with transport to these appointments. Assist with physical examination performed by facility physician. Evaluation and assessment of any minor or major injuries or ailments that occur. Distribution of standard medication on a routine basis to the three units. Daily sick call to each unit. Provide evaluation and sick calls to residents at school when needed. To ensure that all professional staff are instructed and certified in appropriate first aid and CPR training. Administer TB skin test to new employees and residents. Counseling to residents concerning illness or ailments that they may feel they need outside assistance with. (STD, Family Planning) Supervise and manage on-going prescription medication for the residents within the facility. Maintain medical records and do follow-up on residents having specific medical, dental and/or visual problems. Transport residents to and from scheduled appointments and off-campus activities.

Qualifications:

The Facility Nurse shall be licensed as a LPN or RN by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
