Beacon Pediatrics is seeking a Part-Time Pediatric Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team on weekends (and potentially some scattered Friday afternoons) starting in January 2027. Candidates should be able to work on a multidisciplinary healthcare team in a pediatric primary care setting. They would be responsible for providing the full scope of primary care services which fall under their field of training, including but not limited to, diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventative care, and health maintenance. This candidate should be passionate about providing patient-centered care through collaboration and should be willing to make quality improvements to best service our pediatric patients.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Performing an appropriate physical assessment of pediatric patients with acute symptoms presenting for urgent care
• Reviewing and obtaining past medical history, social history, family history, and review of systems
• Ordering and interpreting laboratory and radiologic testing when needed
• Developing an orderly impression and differential diagnosis for patient complaints/concerns
• Developing a plan of care based on clinical impressions and evidenced-based medical guidelines
• Prescribing medications in accordance with State and Federal laws/guidelines
• Consulting with other medical providers when appropriate
• Referring to appropriate pediatric specialists when clinically indicated
• Stabilizing patients with high acuity medical issues, within the capability of the clinic, and arranging for emergent transport to the nearest emergency department for pediatrics

• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to diagnose and treat common acute illnesses and chronic conditions

Procedural Skills:

• Wound management/dressing changes
• Application of splints
• Incision and drainage of abscesses
• Removal of foreign bodies
• Placement and removal of sutures or staples
• Wart treatment

Qualifications:

• Maintain State Licensure, MA Controlled Substance Registration, Federal DEA Registration
• Current certification by a national organization as an Advanced Practitioner
• CPR Certification
• Epic EMR Experience preferred
