Job Title:
Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences
Department:
Academic Affairs Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Nursing and Health Science at Anna Maria College maintains responsibility for the development and administration of the Nursing and Health Science programs. The dean will provide leadership, ensuring growth, high educational standards, and effective resource management. Core responsibilities Provides a vision for the School in accordance with the Academic Affairs' and the College's mission Oversees the administration of the curriculum, classroom, laboratory, and clinical components of the Nursing and Health Science Programs Provides leadership for Department Chairs Provides oversight for full-time and part-time faculty and staff in the programs Works with the department chairs to ensure the curriculum is rigorous, current, and student-centered Leads the departments in their strategic plans, both short and long-term Offers opportunities for professional development of faculty and staff in the departments Provides mentoring for new and existing faculty regarding accreditation standards Monitors student data, including NCLEX pass rates, recruitment, retention, and graduation rates, and develops plans to remedy areas not meeting standards Maintains Massachusetts Board of Nursing approval of the traditional nursing program through compliance with all

standards and submitting annual reports Ensures quality of instruction through periodic assessments and audits Completes internal and external reports, in consultation with the SVPAA Maintains accreditation of the traditional and online RN-BSN programs through continued compliance with Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. Standards and Criteria Ensures compliance with all regulatory and statutory guidelines Maintains compliance with the National Professional Testing Service by certifying the licensure of graduating students Serves as a liaison for representatives of online platforms for the RN-BSN program, e.g., ATI services, and other relevant external agencies Ensures periodic reviews of policies and procedures of the School and implements updates as necessary Develops initiatives to increase new student enrollments and support for transfer credits Communicates with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing to ensure continued compliance with 244 CMR 6.01-6.11 Oversees coordination with the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education Centralized Clinical Placement initiative and local healthcare agencies to obtain student clinical experiences Collaborates with the SVPAA, faculty, and staff of the School to seek partnerships and funding opportunities to support academic programs and buildings Seeks opportunities to market programs in the School and creates opportunities for faculty and staff to engage with different constituents, including industry leaders, other educational institutions, non-profits, and lawmakers. Promotes interdisciplinarity and cooperation among all programs within the School, across Schools, and the College Creates opportunities for engagement with alumni and parents Seeks opportunities for endowed positions for department chairs and naming gifts for the School and departments within the School, in collaboration with the SVPAA Responsible for the development and evaluation/benchmarking of programs as authorized by the SVPAA Works with the SVPAA, Enrollment Management, and Department Chairs on the right size and fit of students admitted to the School Creates an overall culture of excellence, innovation, and student success in the School Other duties as assigned
Competencies and Skills Required:
Understanding of and commitment to the mission of Anna Maria College High ethical standards and good judgment Understanding of confidentiality and FERPA policies Collegial and collaborative style Excellent documentation and presentation skills and an affinity for data analysis Experience with program reviews and accreditation processes Commitment to academic excellence and student success Detail- and process-oriented Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously High level of initiative and problem-solving skills Strong commitment to the vision and goals of the Academic Affairs division Candidates should possess: A current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing An earned graduate degree in nursing and a terminal degree (DNP, EdD, or PhD) A minimum of five years full-time nursing experience within the last eight years and at least three years full-time experience, or its equivalent, in nursing education in a program designed to prepare graduates to practice as Registered Nurses. Anna Maria's Nursing program is approved by the MA Board of Registered Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
Salary Range:
$110,000 to $125,000 per year
