Immunizations Full Job Description Overview:
West Boylston Public Schools is seeking a qualified Substitute Nurse for SY26-27 to be responsible for establishing and managing a comprehensive school health program consistent with the Massachusetts guidelines, regulations and statutes governing nursing and school health, and school district policy.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for professional, medical treatment of students
  • Responsible for early detection of physical problems and health evaluations
  • Responsible for disease prevention
  • Assists in promoting programs on health-education and immunization
  • Maintains clinical records
  • Coordinates vision, hearing, lice, and orthopedic screening and health assessments
  • Provides emergency aid to students and school staff
  • Assists teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education
  • Take part in the decision-making for sick child dismissal and re-admittance to school
  • Monitor attendance/absence patterns and follow-up on student injuries and illness
  • Administers and/or supervises the administration of prescription medication to students; provides medically prescribed intervention.
  • Develops care plans (in cooperation with family physician) for students in concussion protocol and other medical care planning
  • Coordinates medications and nursing care for school field trips with building administration
  • Monitors student physical exam status for athletic program according to MIAA regulations
  • Provides direct nursing care to meet the needs of the students, including administering first aid care for injuries, emergency medical care and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Flexibility to perform other duties assigned by Superintendent of Schools or designee
