About the Job (RN) Nursing students slated to graduate in 2027 are encouraged to apply now for our Winter Student Nurse Extern Program Gain valuable hands-on experience while working alongside an experienced RN mentor and interdisciplinary care team. For at least 50% of your clinical time, you will receive one-on-one mentorship, coaching, and support to help build your clinical skills, critical thinking, and confidence as a future nurse. You will also be supported by a Nursing Professional Development Specialist and participate in bi-weekly educational sessions designed to enhance your learning experience. This is an excellent opportunity to develop meaningful connections and explore a future career on the unit of your choice.
Program Start Date:
To be determined / mid-December 2026.
Program Expectations:
During the Winter Cohort, externs will work full-time hours, consisting of 12-hour shifts, for approximately five weeks. Your schedule will align with your assigned nurse preceptor's schedule throughout the program. Due to the intensive nature of the cohort, time off is not permitted during this period.
Please note:
Nurse externs do not work on legal holidays (Christmas and New Year's Day).
Post-Program Commitment:
Upon successful completion of the program, externs in good standing will be expected to continue employment in a per diem role through graduation. Ongoing employment as a nurse extern requires a commitment of 16 hours per pay period (biweekly) . Flexible scheduling options are available during the academic semester, allowing you to choose between 8-hour or 12-hour shifts to support a healthy balance between work and school.
Pay:
$20.12 per hour
Education/Training:
Active enrollment in an accredited RN program; Must be graduating from your program in May/August/December 2027. Official transcripts will be required at time of hire and at the end of each semester to validate active enrollment.
License/Certification:
No license is required for this position; BLS (CPR for Healthcare Providers) certification is required by time of hire. Learn from the best. Become the best.
