Frequent local and regional travel required Position Summary Washington Vascular Specialists is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and highly organized Traveling Medical Assistant to support a Nurse Practitioner providing vascular care across multiple office locations, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, and other assigned clinical settings. The Traveling Medical Assistant will assist with patient intake, clinical preparation, documentation, care coordination, and administrative support. This individual will travel with or coordinate closely with the Nurse Practitioner to ensure that patients are properly prepared for evaluation and that each clinical visit is completed efficiently. Because this position involves assisting elderly patients, patients with mobility limitations, and residents of nursing and rehabilitation facilities, candidates with an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification are strongly preferred. Essential ResponsibilitiesPatient Intake and Clinical Support

• Prepare patients for examination and evaluation by the Nurse Practitioner.
• Obtain and accurately document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, height, and weight.
• Review and document the patient's current medications, allergies, medical history, symptoms, and reason for the visit.
• Complete patient intake questionnaires and assist with updating demographic and insurance information.
• Assist patients with positioning, transferring, and mobility as needed while following proper safety procedures.
• Observe and report changes in a patient's condition to the Nurse Practitioner.
• Assist with basic clinical procedures within the Medical Assistant's training, certification, and permitted scope of practice.
• Prepare examination areas, equipment, and clinical supplies before each patient visit.
• Clean and disinfect equipment and work areas according to infection-control standards.
• Maintain patient dignity, privacy, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the visit. Nurse Practitioner Support
• Prepare the Nurse Practitioner's daily patient schedule and required clinical materials.
• Ensure that medical records, medication lists, test results, prior notes, and referral information are available before each visit.
• Assist the Nurse Practitioner during patient assessments and minor procedures as directed.
• Enter accurate patient information into the electronic medical record.
• Document clinical information as instructed and within the role's permitted scope.
• Coordinate follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, vascular studies, and referrals.
• Communicate orders and follow-up instructions to the appropriate office or facility staff under the direction of the Nurse Practitioner.
• Track outstanding orders, test results, and follow-up needs.
• Help maintain an efficient clinical workflow throughout the day. Nursing Home and Facility-Based Care
• Travel to nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, assisted living communities, and other assigned locations.
• Coordinate with facility nurses, administrators, and support staff regarding patient availability and visit schedules.
• Confirm that consent forms, medication administration records, face sheets, and other required documents are available.
• Assist with locating residents
• Obtain information from facility staff regarding changes in the patient's condition, wounds, medications, or recent hospitalizations.
• Communicate visit instructions and follow-up needs to facility nursing staff under the direction of the Nurse Practitioner.
• Maintain professionalism and comply with the policies of each facility visited. Administrative and Care Coordination Duties
• Schedule patient appointments and confirm facility visit schedules.
• Scan, upload, and organize clinical documents in the electronic medical record.
• Assist with obtaining medical records, referrals, authorizations, and test results.
• Contact patients, family members, or facility staff regarding appointments and follow-up instructions as directed.
• Maintain accurate patient logs and daily visit reports.
• Assist with tracking referrals and ensuring that patients receive recommended follow-up care.
• Protect all patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Equipment and Supply Management
• Transport and maintain necessary clinical supplies and equipment for off-site visits.
• Ensure portable equipment is clean, functional, and safely stored.
• Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly.
• Maintain responsibility for company-issued equipment and materials. QualificationsRequired Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant, CNA, GNA, or related clinical training program.
• Previous experience working directly with patients in a healthcare setting.
• Current CPR or Basic Life Support certification, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently to multiple locations.
• Ability to pass all required background checks, health screenings, and facility credentialing requirements. Preferred Qualifications
• Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential.
• At least one year of experience in a medical office, nursing home, skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, home health, or geriatric-care setting.
• Experience supporting a Nurse Practitioner, physician, or other advanced practice provider.
• Experience with vascular surgery, cardiology, wound care, podiatry, diabetes care, or senior care.
• Experience using Athenahealth or another electronic medical record system.

• Strong understanding of patient intake procedures and vital-sign collection.
• Ability to safely assist patients with mobility, positioning, and transfers.

• Ability to manage changing schedules and travel between locations.

• Full-time schedule.
• Monday through Friday, with hours based on provider schedules and facility needs.
• Occasional early mornings, extended hours, or schedule adjustments may be required.
