Job Title:
Certified Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) Correctional Facility Position Summary The Certified Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing specialized assessment, treatment, and management of acute and chronic wounds within a correctional healthcare setting. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based wound care while collaborating with medical providers and nursing staff to promote optimal healing outcomes. The Wound Care RN serves as a clinical resource and educator, supporting staff in best practices and maintaining compliance with healthcare standards, infection control protocols, and facility policies.. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive wound assessments and develop individualized care plans Provide treatment for acute, chronic, and complex wounds, including pressure injuries, ulcers, and surgical wounds Monitor wound healing progress and adjust care plans as needed Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care Ensure proper documentation of wound assessments, treatments, and outcomes Educate nursing staff on wound care best practices, prevention strategies, and treatment protocols Implement and monitor infection control practices related to wound care Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures Maintain inventory and proper use of wound care supplies and equipment Provide patient education on wound care and prevention when applicable Respond to clinical concerns related to skin integrity and wound management Qualifications Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific) Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWCN, or equivalent) required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with wound care experience preferred Current BLS/CPR certification Experience in correctional healthcare, long-term care, or acute care preferred Strong knowledge of wound care protocols, infection control, and skin integrity management Excellent clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and security clearance Work Environment Correctional facility setting Requires adherence to strict safety and security procedures May involve working with patients with complex medical and behavioral health needs Talantage, LLC is committed to presenting candidates that contribute to an organizations culture of inclusivity and its commitment to diversity in the workplace are demonstrated through our recruitment practices.
