Duties Assess and monitor patients' wounds, utilizing comprehensive knowledge of physiology and anatomy to develop personalized treatment plans. Perform wound debridement, dressing changes, and advanced wound therapies in accordance with best practices and hospital protocols. Administer injections, IV insertions, and medications while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards. Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and EMR platforms to document assessments, treatments, and progress accurately. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including physicians, physical therapists, and nutritionists—to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans. Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques, infection prevention, and post-discharge instructions to promote healing at home. Respond swiftly to medical emergencies related to wounds or trauma, demonstrating proficiency in first aid, CPR, AED operation, and acute care procedures. Maintain compliance with health regulations and nursing policy standards while ensuring safe manual handling practices during patient transfers or dressing changes. Conduct patient assessments focusing on vital signs, physiological responses, and potential signs of infection or complications. Support hospital initiatives for infection control and quality improvement by adhering to established protocols for infectious disease care. Experience Proven experience in Wound Care Demonstrated expertise in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or medical-surgical nursing environments. Prior work in specialized units such as ICU/PICU or post-acute/outpatient clinics enhances candidacy; experience with geriatrics or pediatrics is advantageous. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation and medical records management is essential. Knowledge of health regulations compliance including HIPAA, State Board of Nursing requirements, and nursing policy adherence is mandatory. Strong background in patient assessment techniques, including vital signs measurement, anatomy understanding, and physiology knowledge. Experience with IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and injection techniques is required for effective patient care delivery. Ability to communicate effectively with patients' families—especially in high-stress situations—while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
