Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

How you'll contribute An OB RN Director who excels in this role: Provides and coordinates care of the OB patient using nursing process. Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of clinical services. Performs performance improvement studies and assists with implementation of PI initiatives. Serves as a resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to patient care, patient flow and clinical standards, policies and procedures. Monitors departmental compliance with applicable requirements, including accreditation, legal, and The Joint Commission. Coordinates staff scheduling, educational/development activities, and performance evaluations. Provides and coordinates patient educational needs, specifically to Labor and Delivery.
