1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ER/Med-Surg Swing position at an acute care hospital in Minnesota, requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and a rotating day/night schedule. Details Acute care hospital setting in Minnesota Combined ER and Med-Surg Swing Bed unit with 4 beds and 2 trauma bays Trauma Level IV facility with STEMI receiving and Stroke designation Average patient volume of approximately 10 patients per day in the ER ER holds are intermixed within the ER; no separate fast track or dedicated triage area Separate psych/seclusion rooms are available RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips; Mindray monitors are used No respiratory therapist on staff — RNs manage ventilator and respiratory equipment ED physician coverage on each shift; charge nurse is present and takes a patient assignment Nurse aides, EMTs, and patient sitters are available on an on-call basis Lab staff handles phlebotomy draws
EMR:
Point Click Care (PCC) 12-hour shifts rotating days and nights, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM and 7:00 PM-7:00 AM Block scheduling will be considered Every other weekend (EOW) required Holiday coverage required when holidays fall within a regularly scheduled shift No on-call or standby requirement Floating required to Med/Surg and Swing Bed, which is on the same unit 13-week contract Requirements Active MN RN license or Compact (NLC) license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted Required certifications (all must be active): BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC; PALS preferred Minimum 2 years of ER experience required Previous Med-Surg experience required Experience managing respiratory equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow) independently Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry strips Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address) Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity affiliated facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered) Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Valid driver's license required Additional Information RNs are responsible for managing respiratory equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen in the absence of RT support Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift covering both day and night orientations (7:00 AM-7:00 PM and 7:00 PM-7:00 AM) Navy blue scrubs required All requested time off must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after consideration Candidates must complete MN NetStudy background check registration prior to consideration — ensure your account is created and registered in advance
