1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a 13-week acute care hospital assignment requiring at least 1 year of strong Med/Surg and Neuro experience along with NIHSS certification. Details Work in a Med/Surg, Neuro, and Trauma unit within an acute care, teaching hospital that is a Level 2 Trauma Center Approximately 60-70% of patients are neuro patients, with additional trauma patients transferred from the ICU after initial stabilization Rotating 3x12 hour shifts, days (0700-1930) and nights (1900-0730) Patient ratios are 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights Required to work every other weekend No on-call requirements No floating within scope required, though candidates may float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital if needed Uses Epic (Excellian) charting system Requirements Active MN RN license or pending MN license accepted Current BLS and NIHSS certification required; ACLS preferred Minimum 1 year of experience required, with strong Med/Surg and Neuro experience Previous charge nurse experience preferred Experience with respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management (PleurEvac preferred), high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care preferred Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration, with central line blood draw experience preferred Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury required Experience with feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac (preferred), and medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA (preferred) Prior travel nursing experience required 1 supervisor reference required for consideration Additional Information Provide direct patient care to a Med/Surg, Neuro, and Trauma patient population, including post-neurosurgical and stabilized trauma patients Navy scrub color required Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted for this position First-time travelers are not accepted for this role Previous Allina staff or per diem employees must be separated from their last shift for at least 3 months before being eligible for this assignment Ideally no more than 5 days of requested time off during the assignment Fingerprinting via LiveScan is a Minnesota state requirement for licensure and must be completed as early as possible, as results may take 1 day to 3-4 weeks
