Job Description

RPC-Cass Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality patient care, perform assessments, administer medications, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans. You will educate patients and families, maintain accurate documentation, and support quality and safety initiatives. Responsibilities Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to patients in a hospital setting Perform comprehensive and focused patient assessments, including vital signs, physical assessments, and monitoring of symptoms Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team Administer medications, treatments, and procedures accurately and in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies Monitor patient responses to medications and treatments, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in condition Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the electronic health record Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and self-care at home Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and support staff to coordinate and optimize patient care Advocate for patient needs, preferences, and safety, promoting dignity, respect, and privacy at all times Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, care conferences, and handoffs to ensure continuity of care Follow infection prevention and control practices, safety protocols, and all regulatory and hospital standards Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring smooth transitions of care Support a culture of teamwork by assisting colleagues, precepting new staff as appropriate, and maintaining positive working relationships Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives within the unit and organization Required Skills Patient assessment and clinical decision-making Medication administration and IV therapy Wound care and dressing changes Use of electronic health records (EHR) systems Vital signs monitoring and interpretation Care planning and care coordination Basic life support and emergency response skills Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced clinical environment Clear, respectful communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members Knowledge of infection control principles and hospital safety standards Patient and family education techniques Documentation and charting accuracy Understanding of common medical-surgical conditions and treatments
