A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

The Lawrence County Health Department is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and community-focused Public Health Nurse to join our team in a full-time position (35 hours per week, M-F 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). This is more than a nursing job—it's an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of Lawrence County residents. As a Public Health Nurse, you'll provide a wide range of essential services that help protect, educate, and improve the lives of individuals and families throughout our community.
What You'll Do:
  • Administer vaccines to children and adults
  • Conduct communicable disease investigations
  • Perform laboratory draws and testing
  • Provide STI testing and sexual health education
  • Assist with Women's Health Clinic services
  • Conduct tuberculosis testing
  • Provide toenail trimming services to senior population
  • Support additional public health programs and initiatives as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Current Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Valid driver's license
  • One year of clinic experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to teamwork
  • Flexible, adaptable, and passionate about serving the public
