2 Description American Traveler is seeking an RN - Psychiatric with pediatric experience for a behavioral health unit serving adolescents with complex medical and behavioral needs. Details Behavioral health unit within a hospital setting specializing in adolescents with complex behavioral and medical needs Patients may present with complex medical conditions such as seizures, diabetes, feeding tubes, or pica No official nurse-to-patient ratio, generally 1-2 nurses on nights for a max facility capacity of 15 clients Mental health techs are staffed at a 1:5 ratio during the day and 1:8 ratio at night Restraints may be used 1-2 times per day; seclusion is not utilized Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM) Rotating weekend scheduling required First week of orientation is 9:00 AM-5:00 PM (40 hours) Uses HCS EMR system Requirements Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required Valid driver's license required BLS certification required, ACLS preferred Pediatric experience required 2 years of behavioral healthcare experience preferred but not required Additional Information Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans addressing physical and behavioral health needs of adolescent patients Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for therapeutic and adverse effects Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, occupational therapists, and social workers Monitor and document patients' physical and emotional status, reporting changes to the healthcare team Provide patient and family education on treatment plans, medications, and coping strategies Assist with crisis intervention using de-escalation and therapeutic communication techniques Maintain a safe, organized environment in accordance with hospital policies and safety regulations Handle with Care certification provided during orientation Local candidates accepted at the same rate All time off must be finalized prior to submission, with no changes accepted afterwardCareer Insights for Registered Nurse (General)
