Job Description

The Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides direct and indirect advanced practice care to patients seeking medical services at King's Daughters Medical Center Emergency Department. The NP evaluates, diagnoses, and manages patients with acute and chronic conditions while collaborating with physicians and the healthcare team to provide safe, efficient, and evidence-based care. This position promotes quality patient outcomes through comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, patient education, and coordination of care in accordance with KDMC policies, procedures, and accepted standards of practice. Education Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required. Experience Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a family practice setting preferred. Emergency department or acute care experience preferred. Certification/Licensure Current Mississippi Nurse Practitioner (NP) license required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification required. Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Current Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test certification/clearance required. Special Qualifications Proficient computer skills and ability to utilize electronic medical records and other healthcare technology. Knowledge of clinic and healthcare operations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient care responsibilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team. Demonstrates sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and commitment to quality patient care. Physical Requirements Maintains good physical health and ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to communicable diseases. Possesses the physical stamina necessary to assess, examine, and treat multiple patients efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards. Ability to perform essential job functions, including standing, walking, and assisting with patient care activities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
