CHICKASAW COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

JOB

DESCRIPTION
TITLE:

Nurse

QUALIFICATION

Registered Nurse with valid MS Nursing License

Three to four years working experience in the clinical healthcare setting

Current CPR certification

Good communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to work independently and with others

Ability to travel within and outside the school district

Ability to exhibit good time management skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow the MS Board of Nursing Laws and MS School Nurse Procedures and Standards of Care

Manage chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizures, ADHD, allergies, etc.

Plan for emergencies and consult with Crisis Committee

Administer medication and maintain doctor's orders for medications

Participate in School Health Councils

Participate in IEP meetings, etc. as needed

Maintain school health records and nursing documentation

Report monthly data to Office of Healthy Schools

Provide health education and health screenings to students and to staff

Work closely with teacher school staff, counselors, etc. for the heal and safety of all students

OTHER DUTIES

Performs all other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

The salary and length of contract shall be established by the Board of Education.

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Principal in accordance with approved board policy.
