Duties Conduct thorough wound assessments, including measuring, photographing, and documenting wound progress using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating advanced wound care techniques like suturing, debridement, and the application of dressings or skin substitutes. Administer specialized treatments including IV infusions, medication administration for pain management, and botulinum toxin treatments when applicable. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with complex needs such as those requiring dialysis, ostomy care, or long-term memory care. Educate patients and their families on wound care protocols, infection control practices, and prevention strategies aligned with HIPAA standards. Maintain sterile technique during procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding management, or surgical dressing changes. Monitor vital signs and perform physical examinations to assess overall health status and respond promptly to acute pain or critical conditions in emergency or ICU settings. Qualifications Valid RN license with current state registration and compliance with licensure requirements. Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, in long-term care, assisted living, or hospice & palliative medicine settings. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including PCC or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in medical documentation and ICD coding (ICD-9/10). Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, infection control protocols, aseptic technique and laboratory procedures such as specimen collection or phlebotomy. Experience in wound management techniques including suturing, ostomy care, sterile processing and advanced dressing applications. Background in acute care environments such as trauma centers (Level I/II), emergency rooms, ICU or surgical units; critical care experience preferred. Ability to perform complex patient assessments involving vital signs monitoring and trauma medicine procedures like airway management or ventilator support. Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and patient education; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced settings.
