Procare USA, founded in 2011, partners with registered nurses and allied health professionals to place them in travel contracts, per diem shifts, and permanent roles while supporting their work to improve patient care. Responsibilities Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care as an Operating Room RN in both scrub and circulating roles. Perform pre-operative assessments and preparations, including verifying consent, allergies, and surgical site marking. Maintain strict aseptic technique and manage the sterile field throughout procedures. Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies promptly and anticipating procedural needs. Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts accurately and document results per policy. Collaborate closely with anesthesia providers, surgical team members, and support staff to ensure coordinated patient care. Monitor patient status, respond to changes, and initiate appropriate interventions during intraoperative and immediate postoperative phases. Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, including operative notes and handoffs to PACU staff. Ensure proper equipment setup, function checks, and post-use processing or turnover of the operating room. Participate in quality improvement, infection control, and safety initiatives within the perioperative environment. Required skills Proven perioperative nursing skills, including experience as a scrub and/or circulating nurse. Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, sterile technique, and OR workflow. Excellent critical thinking, situational awareness, and the ability to prioritize in fast-paced settings. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Competency with electronic medical records and perioperative documentation systems. Physical stamina for extended cases and safe patient handling skills. Relevant qualifications Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or a valid compact license where applicable. Minimum of 1-2 years of recent operating room or perioperative nursing experience; specific assignments may require more experience. CNOR certification preferred or obtained within a specified timeframe if required by the facility. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required by some sites. Up-to-date immunizations, TB screening, background check, and drug screening per facility policy. Ability to meet facility-specific credentialing and onboarding requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS if applicable).
