An Emergency Room Registered Nurse cares for patients in a hospital Emergency Room. Works with Physicians and other clinicians as part of an emergency care team. Provides emergency medical care and emotional support to patients and families dealing with trauma.

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
Pediatric and Adult COPD, CHF, Chest Pain, MI, N-STEMI, Stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled DM, minor trauma
Patient Ratios:

1:4-5, based on acuity
Required Licensure & Certifications:
RN:
BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI
required; TNCC (preferred) Skills required: General ED skillset•Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, Client Assessments, etc. Support within the

Ancillary dept, but not in house every day
