1 Description American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum position requiring both L&D and couplet care experience on a low-risk LDRP unit. Details LDRP unit with 8 LDRP rooms, 3 observation rooms, and 3 triage rooms (15 rooms/17 beds) Low-risk obstetric patient population; high-risk patients are stabilized and transferred out Nurses care for either a laboring patient or postpartum couplets, and circulate in the OR for C-section deliveries and recover patients in PACU Target ratios: L&D 1:1-2, Couplet Care 1:3 average (may fluctuate) Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15 13-week contracts with option for 36 hours per week Weekend requirement of 8 shifts per contract Occasional floating possible but not frequent Call may be required during low census periods Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR charting systems Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required Must have both Labor & Delivery and Couplet Care experience Required certifications:
BLS, AWHONN
Intermediate, FHM, NRP, STABLE Preferred certifications:
ACLS, AWHONN
Advanced Epic charting experience required Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, including starting/maintaining IVs, blood product administration, and infusion pump use Experience with fetal monitoring including external/internal monitoring and IUPC use Experience managing labor and delivery complications including hemorrhage/shock, amnioinfusion, and vacuum/forceps extraction Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures including NST, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and newborn assessments Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and terbutaline Experience with pain management including epidural and PCA use Additional Information Provide comprehensive care to laboring and postpartum patients, including couplet care and newborn assessments Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, and PACU recovery as needed Support breastfeeding and lactation education, along with discharge and car seat teaching Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols, and administer vaccines as required Unit orientation includes hospital orientation week plus two 12-hour shifts, with mandatory daily class attendance Scrubs are provided (blue) First-time travelers welcome to apply Previous Novant Health or New Hanover
