A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Education and Formal Training :
Associates Degree in Nursing required Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensureUnit Description:
Fast-paced, high-acuity environment with diverse clinical presentations. Emphasis on patient safety, infection prevention, early intervention, and rapid response to clinical changes. Use of electronic health records, bedside monitoring, and standardized communication tools (SBAR, hand-off protocols).Work Experience :
1 year of nursingKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills Verbal and written skills required Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically servedPhysical Requirements :
Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs Visual acuity for observation of patients Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material #CFVH-2025
