Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated seasoned Registered Nurse for a contract position within our healthcare facility. This position will require a 30 to 40 hours week commitment.

Role Overview:

The Methadone RN with Prior Authorization Experience bridges the gap between high-level clinical addiction care and complex healthcare administrative operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant delivery of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and mental health care while proactively managing the prior authorization (PA) and utilization review lifecycle. By combining clinical expertise in substance use disorders, mental health care, and insurance navigation knowledge, this professional secures coverage for mental health and addiction treatments, minimizes care delays, and upholds state, federal, and SAMHSA regulations. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care across various clinical settings, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert assessment, intervention, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient service across a culturally diverse population, adhere to healthcare regulations, and possess a broad range of specialized nursing skills.

Clinical & Dosing Operations Patient Assessments:

Perform comprehensive baseline and ongoing clinical assessments, monitoring for opioid withdrawal symptoms, medication side effects, and adverse reactions.

Medication Administration:

Accurately dispense and administer methadone, buprenorphine, and other mental health medications dosages according to physician orders and strict federal accountability protocols.

Crisis Intervention:

Identify acute medical or psychiatric crises, executing immediate de-escalation, harm reduction strategies, or referrals.

Care Collaboration:

Partner with medical directors and providers, nurses, counselors, case managers, and pharmacists to build individualized, holistic recovery plans.

Prior Authorization & Utilization Management Submission Lifecycle:

Review, draft, and submit prior authorization requests for methadone maintenance, specialized psychiatric medications, or ancillary treatments. Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals—including physicians, therapists, and nurses—to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for accurate documentation of medical records, care planning, and medical records management. Engage in patient education initiatives to promote understanding of health conditions and adherence to treatment protocols. Participate in quality assurance activities by maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and health policy standards. Assist in managing patients as a nurse case manager by overseeing clinical case management and utilization management processes. Qualifications Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current registration in the relevant jurisdiction. Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and medical terminology. Knowledge of health regulation policies including HIPAA compliance and healthcare standards. Demonstrated ability to perform patient assessments accurately and manage cases effectively. Excellent communication skills for client interaction across a culturally diverse population, along with interdisciplinary collaboration.
