Stepdown Nurse (RN) in Forest City, NC

Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Contract An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse experienced in Stepdown or PCU settings, with a contract assignment based in Forest City, NC. This role focuses on providing expert nursing care to patients requiring intermediate levels of monitoring and treatment, including cardiac, respiratory, and other complex medical conditions. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic clinical environment with a strong support team and access to comprehensive hospital resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population (CHF, dysrhythmias, strokes, infections, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, renal issues, alcohol withdrawal, IV drug use, etc.) Manage care for patients with tracheostomies, cardiac drips, chest tubes, blood products administration, wound care, and central lines Interpret cardiac rhythms accurately and respond to patient needs Collaborate closely with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy teams, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists Utilize technology including EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring systems Float within the assigned regional facilities as needed, with paid travel time during shift

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

Minimum 18 months of PCU nursing experience required Active RN license with current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification Competence in cardiac rhythm interpretation and management of advanced devices such as trachs and chest tubes Ability to function effectively in a team-oriented, family culture that values open communication

Schedule and Work Details:

Weekend rotation every other week No call responsibilities Work approximately 75% of holidays Scheduling in 6-week cycles with up to 6 approved days off (excluding holidays) Dayshift only Navy scrub color required Free parking available
