Bed PCU/MedSurg Unit Minimum Experience Required:
18 Months PCU Experience First-Time Travelers Accepted Unit Overview This is a combined Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical unit caring for a diverse patient population requiring intermediate-level care. Patient Population & Common Diagnoses Stroke Rule-Out CVA Cellulitis Failure to Thrive (FTT) Altered Mental Status (AMS) Chest Pain Rule-Out Atrial Fibrillation (Afib)
COPD General Medical-Surgical Patients Patient Ratios Nursing Ratios RN:
1:5•1:6
LPN:
Primary patient assignments (same ratio as RN)
CNA:
1:8•1:12 Required Certifications Active RN License
BLS ACLS NIHSS
Required Skills Candidates must have experience with: Essential Nursing Functions Teamwork & Communication Tracheostomy Care Cardiac Drip Management Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Chest Tube Management Blood Product Administration Wound Care & Dressing Changes Central Line Management Support Available on the Unit Clinical Support CNA Support ADLs Vital Signs Blood Glucose Monitoring Telemetry/Masimo Monitoring Admission, Transfer & Discharge Assistance Additional Support Receptionist/Health Unit Coordinator (most day shifts) Call Bell Management Phone Triage ADT Support Charge Nurse (typically without patient assignment) Phlebotomy Team IV/Vascular Access Team Resource Nurse (staffing dependent) Respiratory Therapy Available 24/7 Hospitalists Available 24/7 Combination of On-Site and Virtual Coverage Telemetry Monitoring Unit-Based Monitoring Central Monitoring at

Fall Prevention Devices Patient Positioning Equipment Floating Requirements Required Floating Travelers must be willing to float within scope of practice.
