Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse, where your expertise will be vital in delivering rapid, compassionate care to patients facing urgent health crises. In this energetic role, you will be at the forefront of emergency medicine, providing critical assessments, administering life-saving treatments, and coordinating care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine acuity levels and prioritize care needs. Deliver immediate emergency interventions such as airway management, IV infusion, suturing, and medication administration following aseptic techniques and hospital protocols. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic and Cerner to document patient information accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Conduct triage to identify critical cases swiftly and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, lab technicians for specimen collection/processing, and radiology staff for diagnostic imaging like CT scans or sonography. Assist with advanced procedures such as ventilator management, spinal taps, gastrostomy tube feeding, and ostomy care while maintaining sterile processing standards. Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and health coaching strategies to promote recovery at home or in community settings like assisted living or nursing homes. Respond promptly to emergency situations including cardiac arrests or trauma incidents by implementing ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) protocols and working seamlessly with critical care transport teams when necessary. Participate in infection control practices to prevent hospital-acquired infections and ensure compliance with NCQA standards. Support ongoing quality improvement initiatives by contributing to case management efforts and maintaining detailed medical documentation aligned with
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding requirements. Qualifications Valid RN license with current registration; previous experience in emergency room or urgent care settings is essential. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to acute care. Hands-on experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, suturing, catheterization (including urinary and central lines), and aseptic technique. Critical care experience including ICU or trauma center exposure highly preferred; familiarity with Level I or Level II trauma center protocols is advantageous. Ability to perform under pressure while managing multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills for patient assessment, education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced certifications such as ACLS or PALS are preferred. Additional skills that enhance your candidacy include experience with laboratory testing (specimen collection/processing), infectious disease management, hospice & palliative medicine knowledge, and familiarity with CPT coding for procedures. $36.84 - $50.00 per hour
