Job Description
At Raleigh Endoscopy Center, we are committed to providing exceptional care and improving the well-being of our patients. We are a premier Ambulatory Surgery Center known for our dedication to excellence and compassionate care. We are currently seeking a skilled Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The Endoscopy RN will play a critical role in our endoscopy unit, ensuring patient safety and high-quality care throughout the entire patient experience. This position involves preoperative assessment, testing, and education, as well as active participation in endoscopy procedures and postoperative care. The ideal candidate will have expertise in endoscopy procedures, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care. Duties Adhere to standard precautions at all times to ensure patient safety. Conduct preoperative testing and patient counseling, including accurate assessment and documentation of medical history, surgical history, and current medications. Respond courteously to patient and family needs, addressing concerns and informing the charge nurse of any issues affecting patient throughput and scheduling. Ensure a time-out is performed with all parties present prior to the start of each procedure. Direct patient care in the endoscopy room, including managing throughput, labeling specimens appropriately, and working closely with physicians and CRNAs to achieve optimal outcomes. Start, work in, and break down procedure rooms, handling both scope and nurse responsibilities as needed. Provide nursing care in the immediate postoperative/post-anesthesia period, assessing and documenting patient status upon arrival in the recovery room and monitoring for complications. Ensure proper care and use of endoscopes and accessories, including high-level disinfection according to manufacturer's guidelines and center policies. Maintain compliance with scope room attestation and other quality assurance practices. The above main functions are not all inclusive to the job description of the Endoscopy Registered Nurse. Skills
- Proficient in patient assessment techniques
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy relevant to endoscopy
- Experience in health coaching and family planning support
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices
- Skilled in providing compassionate patient care during endoscopic procedures
- Ability to perform IV insertions and manage IV lines effectively
- Competent in specimen collection processing and accurate documentation
- Knowledge of medical terminology specific to endoscopy procedures
- Proficiency in acute pain management techniques for patient comfort Qualifications
- Current RN License
- Experience in Endoscopy
- Proficiency in IV insertion
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong patient care skills
- Anatomy knowledge
