Job Description

Where You'll Work CHI Health St. Mary's has served Nebraska City and the surrounding areas since 1927. In the fall of 2014, St. Mary's opened the doors of a brand-new, fully modernized facility. The new 110,000-square-foot campus is better equipped to meet the changing needs of our community with, among other benefits, an increased capacity for specialty clinics and an integrated primary care clinic.   • As our Advanced RN, you will function as a vital member of the healthcare team who contributes to the success of the practice by demonstrating customer/patient focus, effective communication, professionalism, and teamwork.
Every day, you will spend 40% or more of your time on an annual basis assisting the physician through documentation of specific components of the patient visit and executing specified physician instructions within the framework of the policy and procedures of the Clinic. You will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care provided to selected patient populations and their families.

To be successful in your role, you will strategically contribute to the success of the clinical practice by providing advanced nursing care, focusing on patient documentation and executing physician instructions with exceptional precision. You will demonstrate exceptional proficiency in applying the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care for diverse patient populations, all while fostering effective communication, professionalism, and teamwork within the healthcare setting. Performs/directs patient care following established clinic workflows, including, but not limited to, admission interviews, accurate documentation, and timely patient flow. Accompanies the physician into the exam room or is connected remotely by audio for the patient visit, documenting in the electronic medical record (EMR) all aspects of care including chief complaint (CC), history of presenting illness (HPI), physician exam (PE) and patient plan as directed by the physician. Works directly with the physician to ensure the patient visit is appropriately documented. Develops an understanding of physician practice patterns and key terms used by the physician to ensure efficient and accurate real-time documentation of patient visits. Triages patients to ensure priority is provided to patients in an emergency: prepares room for daily patient care; responsible for sterilization; restocks instruments; Cleans and resets rooms between patients; orders medications and supplies; helps orient new employees to the clinic through explanation of the procedure. Assists healthcare providers with exams, treatments, procedures, and testing as directed. Willingness to ask provider questions, get clarification when needed, and communicate concerns appropriately and timely. Performs phlebotomy and lab procedures and communicates results to the patient as ordered by the provider. Notifies patients of lab and diagnostic test results under the direct supervision of the health care provider. Ensures appropriate consent is obtained prior to the above.
