Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L&D)
  • Job Summary:
  • The Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery provides specialized, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period.
The RN assesses patient conditions, monitors fetal and maternal well-being, assists with deliveries, administers medications, and collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality maternal and newborn care.
  • Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or Compact RN License. Current BLS certification required. ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications preferred or required per facility policy. Recent Labor & Delivery, Women's Health, or Obstetrics nursing experience preferred.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Assess, monitor, and provide nursing care to antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients.
Monitor fetal heart rate patterns, uterine activity, and maternal status throughout labor and delivery. Assist physicians during vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and other prescribed treatments. Provide newborn care, stabilization, and patient/family education. Recognize and respond appropriately to obstetric and neonatal emergencies. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records. Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care. Follow infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.
