In this role, you will provide comprehensive postpartum care to mothers and newborns, including assessments, vital sign monitoring, medication administration, and support with breastfeeding and newborn care. You will collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to implement care plans, educate families on postpartum recovery, infant safety, and discharge instructions, and maintain accurate EMR documentation. Responsibilities Provide postpartum nursing care to mothers and newborns per physician orders and facility protocols Perform and document comprehensive assessments of mothers and infants, including vital signs and newborn screenings Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring for adverse reactions Support breastfeeding and lactation, offering education and hands-on assistance to new mothers Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, infant care, and safe sleep practices Coordinate discharge planning and provide clear written and verbal instructions Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to update and implement care plans Maintain accurate, timely EMR documentation in accordance with regulatory and facility standards Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards at all times Float and adapt to varying unit needs as a PRN nurse, including flexible shifts and assignments Required Skills Postpartum nursing care Newborn assessment Lactation support Electronic Medical Records (EMR) documentation Medication administration Patient and family education Discharge planning Vital signs and monitoring Infection control practices Interdisciplinary care coordination
