Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Private Duty Nurse to provide personalized, comprehensive nursing care to clients in Morris County. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, exceptional patient assessment skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with individuals requiring long-term, acute, or specialized nursing services in a home or community setting. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in managing complex medical needs while maintaining adherence to healthcare standards and regulations. Duties Deliver direct patient care tailored to individual health conditions, including medication administration, IV infusion, wound suturing, and aseptic technique. Monitor vital signs, perform physical examinations, and assess patient needs to develop and update personalized care plans. Manage complex medical procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, ventilator management, and dialysis support. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, discharge planning, and case management for optimal patient outcomes. Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols while safeguarding patient confidentiality. Provide education and support to patients and their families on health coaching, medication administration, and disease management strategies. Assist with specialized care needs including hospice & palliative medicine, memory care, behavioral health, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Qualifications Valid nursing license (RN or LPN) with current registration in the state of practice. Extensive clinical experience in settings such as hospitals (including ICU and Level I Trauma Center), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care environments. Proficiency in handling complex medical procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and wound suturing. Experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and patient record management. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Familiarity with critical care transport, trauma medicine, infectious disease care, and acute pain management is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work independently in diverse settings such as outpatient clinics or inpatient units. Additional experience in geriatrics, post-acute care (including MDS), hospice & palliative medicine, occupational health, or pediatric nursing is preferred. $38.00 - $50.00 per hour
