In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients across various medical-surgical units, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert assessment, intervention, and collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in acute care settings, with experience in diverse medical disciplines including cardiology, infectious disease, trauma medicine, and post-acute care. This position offers an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine immediate and ongoing care needs. Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while monitoring for adverse reactions. Perform advanced procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, suturing, and tube feeding with precision and aseptic technique. Manage complex cases involving acute pain, infectious diseases, trauma, or post-operative recovery by implementing appropriate interventions. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation of patient care activities and medical records management. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans aligned with best practices and regulatory standards. Provide patient education on treatment plans, medication administration, discharge instructions, and health coaching tailored to diverse populations. Assist in triage processes within emergency or urgent care settings to prioritize patient needs effectively. Support infection control protocols and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient confidentiality. Participate in quality improvement initiatives adhering to NCQA standards and ICD coding practices for accurate documentation. Requirements Valid RN license in the applicable state or jurisdiction with current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); additional certifications such as ACLS preferred. Minimum of two years of nursing experience in medical-surgical units or equivalent acute care environments. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms. Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Knowledge of
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding systems for accurate documentation and billing processes. Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as phlebotomy, venipuncture, sterile dressing changes, and ostomy care. Familiarity with advanced clinical skills including ventilator management, dialysis support, trauma medicine protocols, and infectious disease management. Strong critical thinking abilities combined with excellent communication skills for effective patient assessment and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to adapt quickly within high-pressure environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or emergency rooms while maintaining attention to detail.
